"I’ve seen writers parody boring writing, and it doesn’t come across as parody. Just boring."

The reader needs to be in on the joke. You are not just parodying a passage, but a writer's "famous" style. Perhaps this works in an English lit class, where everyone has a shared hate for a certain passage.
