This is so cool. What are the timelines for writing? Are you planning to have all stories written before publishing? Are you doing a read with notes before publishing? I feel like that might be necessary for world-building consistency and to avoid duplications (there are too many vicars and dentists in one town). I'm not sure why I picked those professions. Happy to help with that if you need it... not going to put this on notes - feels like a closed loop thing until its locked in.
We will all be publishing at once. After all the rounds are finished. (See the last section.) We'll schedule the first round once everyone is good with basic premise.
Are the names you posted the authors who are writing stories? I wasn’t sure. I would be interested in adding v my story if this is what you intended, as I saw my name
As a professional worldbuilder, I can easily imagine a demon-possessed Tooth Fairy running around necessitating an overabundance of stories about dentists, hygienists, and Priests all wondering wtf is going on around town, and is it attributed to the overcrowding of fish in the river near the dam?
I have thoughts on how to track the worldbuilding, but it will have to wait until I am at home and on a proper keyboard.
And, yeah, what are the timelines looking like? Just a loose idea of "I'd like to publish in June" because, like the river, this is all liquid right now.
Also. If we ever develop this into a television shoe, can we get Danny Elfman to write the theme and sing "Wel-come-to-Frank-lin!" at the beginning? IYKYK
Thaddeus, I love the project that you've created. If I wasn't insanely working on my two novels, I would plunge in. I will definitely be buying the finished book when it's ready. Good luck and bravo to you for creating this project.
Okay I’m going over everything. I’m digging the same setting and idea you’ve got here. A modern city with a major river sounds dope and I’m already thinking of something I could write with two prominent characters. The only thing I’m seeing is maybe we could post it on different days for the first round to let people digest it for a day. But if it’s 16 stories I could see how that could be a problem so maybe two stories a day for about a week? Just throwing out ideas for engagement. All of it sounds great so far though. I’m excited.
I have never written flash fiction, but I decided to give it a go after reading your example. It ended with 1045 words. (I know you said (500 -1000) Don’t know if there is wiggle room. I was honored to see my name Thaddeus, but it sounds like you already have your quota. Keep me in mind for down the road. Thanks Mary Hunt
We need to be careful in promoting this. CYOA is still under active copyright and the holders are (as I have been told) litigious over its improper use. Choose your path is usually a preferred alternative. Just as a FYI.
I can see my house from the map in this post!

I'd love to jump in on the second round, if possible. I already was hit with a seed idea for "the man in the hole"...

It's really cool seeing you explore the possibilities of online storytelling. I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with.

I dig this. Excited to participate
Skimming over and I’m DOWN. Ready whenever
Sounds exciting!
I cannot wait to read this collaboration!
Sounds great! What are you thinking in terms of word count per story?
500-1000

That's good to know! Thank you.
We'll schedule the first round one everyone is good with the basic premise.
I want in!! This is such a cool idea
*finger guns*
Oh this is so cool, I'm so in! I've never been in St. Louis so it'll fun to research.
